Shingle Creek Adventure Challenge
Are you ready for the challenge?
Are you ready for the challenge? This tour takes you from The Paddling Center to The Docks at Shingle Creek. It's one way voyage is full of absolute beauty with a challenging twist. As the Cypress Forest diminishes into Shingle Creek, the waters gather and create a small waterfall with very narrow passage.. After which Shingle Creek takes a series of twists and turn with many Cypress Trees and their knees creating many obstacles along the path. This tour is NOT for the novice paddler.Must have paddling experience and willing to portage your kayak through the waterfall area. Approximately 30 yards.
A Eco-friendly attraction of Florida's natural beauty.
This 3-hour guided tour departs at The Paddling Center at Shingle Creek, located directly off of Hwy 192, and ends 4 miles down-current at The Docks at Shingle Creek (located at Marsh Landing Regional Park). Tour participants quickly enters an ecological gem that is rated one of the top paddling trails in Florida by Johnny Molloy, author of “Canoeing and Kayaking Florida.” Within 20 minutes you enter an old-growth cypress forest and travel 2+ miles through this enchanted eco-system; as stunningly beautiful as it is serenely peaceful! Due to variations in water level, due to recent rain events or lack thereof, participants will need to exit their kayak and pull it over approximately 50 yards of fallen trees, roots and other obstacles. This “adventure” component is not for the faint of heart, so being physically able and possessing moderate kayak skills is a must.
Guest will park at The Docks at Shingle Creek, final destination point and we will then Uber you back to The Paddling Center where the tour begins.
The tour includes kayak rental, life jacket, drinks/snacks, ongoing narration about the rich ecology and history of Shingle Creek, snack and drink at Docks Deck, and return shuttle service to The Paddling Center. All guides have ACA Instructor certification, as well as First Aid, CPR & AED certification. Basic and intermediate paddling technique instruction is included for intermediate level kayakers. Kayak instruction will include at minimum 7 basic paddling techniques (forward, reverse, sweep, draw, rudder, bracing and edging). Adults and teenagers (13 years and older) can participate given they meet minimum strength and kayaking experience standards.
The Paddling Center location is literally minutes away from the major theme parks and resort hotels, so including this in your vacation itinerary can be done very readily.
The ecology and wildlife associated with Shingle Creek is unmatched due to the fact that the paddling trail includes a pristine cypress forest area that you will see and experience in its entirety.
This is a unique paddling experience that only a limited number of people will have the opportunity to complete due to the “adventure challenge” element – for those up for it, this will become a “bucket list” activity you will share with others again and again!
Experiencing Florida’s natural beauty up close while controlling your own kayak can be a transformative experience and one that your whole family will talk about for years.
